About Us
Joy Kinney, MSR CCC-SLP is the owner of Speech-Language Pathology Associates of South Carolina, LLC, and is a Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in treating adults with neurological disorders, including communication, swallowing, and cognitive symptoms of Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke, and other neurologic conditions. Ms. Kinney presented at the 2021 Convention of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, on "Rising United: The Mission Essential Task of Cognitive Rehabilitation for Combat Veterans," and in 2022, Ms. Kinney was awarded the Frank R. Kleffner Clinical Career Award by the South Carolina Speech-Language-Hearing Association, for her work focusing on mild traumatic brain injury. She was a mainstage speaker at the Head2Speech Interprofessional Summit, presenting the topic of "When My Patient Seems Normal," highlighting evaluation and treatment strategies for patients who experience mild traumatic brain injury. In addition, Ms. Kinney volunteers with the Columbia Parkinson's Support Group, is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Brain Injury Association of South Carolina. She is fully licensed to practice Speech-Language Pathology in the states of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Ms. Kinney is a 2005 graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Studies, with emphasis on Communication Sciences and Disorders, and a 2003 graduate of Columbia College of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Timothy Kinney is the co-owner of Speech-Language Pathology Associates of South Carolina, LLC. He works full-time at the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services, as the Director of the Division of Compliance and Customer Support. He is a graduate of the Leadership Excellence and Achievement Program (LEAP) and is the 2022 Recipient of the LEAP Character Award. He is a 2005 graduate of Erskine College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science.

Dywane Ford is the Administrative support at Speech-Language Pathology Associates of South Carolina. He retired from the United States Army with the rank of Sergeant First Class, in 2021, after more than 20 years of honorable service, and is the also the owner of Muddy's Cocoa and Tea Mobile Cart.

Twix is our therapy dog. She is a 4 year old mixed breed, rescued from Lexington County Animal Services in 2020. She is currently in training for her therapy dog certification with Dog Training Elite Midlands SC. She'll be providing emotional support and assisting with communication retraining for those who are recovering from stroke or traumatic brain injury.
